PT Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) has established a strategic partnership with Copenhagen Urban Solar Parks BD Ltd (CUSP) to explore renewable energy development in Bangladesh, specifically solar power projects and potential cooperation in operation and maintenance.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Director of Pertamina NRE, John Anis, and Chairman of CUSP, Ziaur Rahman, at Grha Pertamina, Jakarta, Wednesday (May 13, 2026).

This collaboration is an initial step for both companies to explore investment opportunities and develop clean energy projects in Bangladesh, in line with accelerating the global energy transition and strengthening regional cooperation in the sustainable energy sector.

Through this partnership, Pertamina NRE and CUSP will conduct a feasibility study covering technical, market, business, environmental, legal aspects, and project risk analysis. In addition, both parties will also explore strategic, technical, and commercial cooperation opportunities, including technology and knowledge exchange in the development of new renewable energy.

The Director of Pertamina NRE, John Anis, said that this collaboration is part of the company’s commitment to expanding green energy development at the global level.

“In the midst of a global situation full of uncertainty, this collaboration is an important moment and a strategic step to strengthen the development of Indonesia’s renewable energy business and support the needs for sustainable clean energy in Bangladesh,” said John Anis.

He added that the development of projects in Bangladesh has the potential to strengthen Pertamina NRE’s international portfolio, which has previously shown positive achievements in the Philippines.

“Currently, Pertamina NRE has an installed capacity of more than 1 GWp in the Philippines and continues to grow with a target of reaching 2.6 GWp by the end of this year. This achievement is important capital for developing similar projects in Bangladesh,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of CUSP, Ziaur Rahman, welcomed the partnership and expressed optimism that collaboration with Pertamina NRE would open up broader synergy opportunities in the development of solar energy in Bangladesh.

“We welcome this collaboration as a strategic step to present innovative and efficient clean energy solutions that have a positive impact on sustainable development in Bangladesh,” he said.

The signing of the MoU was also witnessed by the Director of Investment and Creative Economy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Roy Wahab. He appreciated the steps taken by both companies in strengthening economic and energy cooperation between Indonesia and Bangladesh.

“This partnership reflects the close bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in encouraging green investment and sustainable energy development. The exchange of knowledge and experience will certainly provide great benefits for both countries,” he explained.

Through this collaboration, Pertamina NRE and CUSP hope to support the acceleration of the global energy transition while supporting Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission target by 2060. This collaboration is also expected to encourage green investment, strengthen energy resilience, and make a real contribution in facing climate change towards a more sustainable energy future.
