The President Director of Pertamina NRE, John Anis, said that this collaboration is the initial step for both companies in exploring investment opportunities and developing clean energy projects in Bangladesh. This is in line with efforts to accelerate the energy transition and strengthen regional collaboration in the sustainable energy sector.

“In the midst of a global situation full of uncertainty, this collaboration is an important moment and a strategic step for the development of renewable energy business in Indonesia while also supporting the need for sustainable clean energy in Bangladesh,” said John in a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 16, 2026.

John explained that this collaboration also reflects Bangladesh’s trust in Pertamina NRE’s capabilities and experience in developing new and renewable energy, including in managing large-scale solar energy projects at the international level.

Within the scope of the collaboration, both parties will also conduct a feasibility study covering technical, market, business, environmental, legal aspects, as well as project risks. In addition, the parties will also explore strategic, technical and commercial cooperation, including the exchange of knowledge and the application of technology related to the development of renewable energy.

Furthermore, John also said that this collaboration reflects Pertamina’s seriousness in the field of energy and efforts to expand the development of green energy in the international arena. The development of this collaboration in Bangladesh has the potential to strengthen Pertamina NRE’s international portfolio which currently shows positive performance in the Philippines.

Currenty, Pertamina NRE has an installed capacity of more than 1 GWp in the Philippines and continues to grow with a target of reaching 2.6 GWp by the end of this year. “This concrete achievement is important capital for Pertamina NRE to develop similar projects in Bangladesh,” said John.

Meanwhile, Chairman of CUSP Ziaur Rahman believes that the partnership with Pertamina NRE will open up opportunities for broader synergies in the development of solar energy projects in Bangladesh. “We welcome this collaboration as a strategic step to present innovative, efficient and positive solutions for sustainable development in Bangladesh,” said Ziaur.
