Pertamina NRE drives development of biofuel, hydrogen, and conservation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) is pushing for the development of biofuels, hydrogen energy, and forest conservation through six agreements with several strategic partners.
“These six agreements reflect the breadth of opportunities that can be developed, ranging from renewable energy to nature-based solutions,” said the President Director of Pertamina NRE, John Anis, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
The six agreements involve Pertamina NRE alongside several strategic partners, namely PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero), PT Medco Intidinamika, PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero), PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN), Globaltec Desarrollos e Ingeniería, S.A., PT Inhutani I (Persero), and PT Hydrogene de France Energy Indonesia.
Of these six agendas, four consist of MoU/JDSA handovers for previously agreed collaborations, while the other two agendas involve signings conducted during The 12th Indonesia EBTKE ConEx 2026 held earlier this week.
John stated that collaboration is one of the keys to accelerating the development of the clean energy ecosystem in Indonesia.
“Pertamina NRE continues to expand collaborations with various partners to develop clean energy solutions that support energy security and Indonesia’s energy transition agenda,” he said.
The two signings conducted during the IndoEBTKE ConEx 2026 include an MoU between Pertamina NRE and Globaltec Desarrollos e Ingeniería, S.A. regarding the development of biomethanol from palm oil mill effluent (POME), as well as the Listing Representation-Verra Registry Signing for the Rangkong Basaken Landscape Conservation Project alongside PT Inhutani I (Persero).
Meanwhile, the four handover agendas include a PPI collaboration with Agrinas Palma Nusantara for renewable energy development, a collaboration between Pertamina NRE, Medco Intidinamika, and PTPN III regarding bioethanol development, and a PPI collaboration with SGN for molasses-based bioethanol development.
Additionally, PPI and Hydrogene de France Energy Indonesia also conducted a JDSA handover regarding a feasibility study for the development of an integrated renewable energy and hydrogen project in Eastern Indonesia.
The Director of Strategic Planning & Business Development of Pertamina NRE, Harsono Budi Santoso, added that the diversity of these collaborations demonstrates the company’s commitment to building a sustainable clean energy business portfolio.
“Through strategic partnerships, Pertamina NRE continues to explore opportunities to provide energy solutions that benefit energy security, the environment, and Indonesia’s economic growth,” said Harsono.
