Pertamina Monitoring Business Operations and Crew Safety in the Middle East
PT Pertamina (Persero) is monitoring the activities of its business units in the Middle East following attacks by Israel and the United States against Iran. Three of Pertamina’s strategic business divisions have direct involvement in the region’s dynamics.
“Pertamina has also prepared risk mitigation measures and strengthened communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy in Baghdad (KBRI), the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) and local authorities to maintain operational continuity and crew safety,” said Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron in an official statement released on Monday, 2 March 2025.
Three subsidiary companies operating in the Middle East include PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) Non Captive, which conducts global energy transportation activities. Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP) operates upstream operations in Basrah, Iraq, whilst Pertamina Patra Niaga manages crude oil procurement and product operations sourced from Middle Eastern suppliers.
Pertamina is also implementing mitigation measures to ensure supply chain continuity and maintain national energy security. The company currently maintains a diversified portfolio of crude oil, fuel products, and liquefied petroleum gas sources from both domestic production and various partner countries.
The diversification provides flexibility in supply management amid geopolitical dynamics. In addition, Pertamina is optimising domestic refinery operations to maintain balanced production and distribution. Through integrated supply management spanning upstream to downstream operations, the company ensures that fuel and liquefied petroleum gas availability for the public remains adequate and controlled.
