Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series: A Platform Towards the World Stage
The Pertamina Mandalka Racing Series (MRS) serves as a platform for national riders to increase their racing experience, sharpen their skills, and prepare young Indonesian talents for higher levels of competition.
Held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Pertamina MRS provides riders the opportunity to compete on an international-standard circuit, which also serves as the arena for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026. More than just a competition to reach the podium, Pertarma MRS is part of the coaching and development process for Indonesian riders.
On Saturday (19/9), the 4th round of MRS was held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, featuring 80 riders in the National Sport 150 (NS150), National Sport 250 (NS250), Super Sport 600 (SS600), and Indonesia Junior Talent Cup U-15 (IJTC) classes. Additionally, 28 riders participated in the Underbone 150 and Junior Sport U-18 support classes.
Irfan Hadiansah, a rider from Semarang who has participated in Pertamina MRS since 2024, believes this event provides an important space for riders to grow. He noted that the presence of junior classes helps establish a developmental ladder for young talent.
“Because the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series also has a U-15 junior class, it certainly provides a stepping stone to higher levels. It is very good, and I hope its existence is maintained and held every year,” Irfan said in a statement on Sunday (20/9/2026).
He expressed hope that Pertamina MRS will continue so that more young riders have the opportunity to develop their abilities and move to the next level of competition.
Similarly, Chandra Hermawan, a rider from Lumajang, East Java, who has participated in Pertamina MRS for three years, believes that motorsport competitions on international-standard tracks are essential for maintaining the regeneration of Indonesian riders.
“These young children should race here often, because there must be new seeds every year. These superior talents must continue to be developed,” said Chandra.
Chandra hopes that Pertamina MRS will continue to grow and produce more high-quality riders. “The hope is that it progresses further and produces more quality riders. May it continue to prosper,” he added.
Muhammad Baron, Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina (Persero), stated that the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series is part of building a development pathway for Indonesian racing talent.
“Through the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series, riders gain space to increase their flying hours, improve technical abilities, build racing mentalities, and experience the competitive atmosphere on an international-standard track. This experience is vital as part of their journey towards higher levels,” said Baron.
According to Baron, Pertamina’s support for motorsport does not stop at organising a competition, but is directed towards building a connected ecosystem, ranging from talent development and national competitions to the international motorsport stage.
“Pertamina wants to help build an ecosystem that provides space for Indonesian talent to continue developing. From national competitions, riders have the opportunity to improve their skills and experience as preparation to step onto the world motorsport stage,” said Baron.
The Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series is part of the motorsport ecosystem being continuously developed at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. Support for national competition and talent development goes hand-in-hand with the presence of world-class racing events, including the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026, which will take place from 9–11 October 2026.
