Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit: A Breeding Ground for Indonesia's New Generation of Racers

The Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit represents Pertamina’s support for the racing world and homegrown racing talent. This international-standard circuit serves as a facility to forge young racers. The Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is located in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The circuit features a track length of 4.31 km and 17 corners, holding a Grade A homologation, the highest safety and feasibility licence granted to a circuit for hosting world-class motorcycle racing events such as MotoGP. The licence was obtained from the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme), the global governing and organising body for motorcycle racing. PT Pertamina (Persero) Vice President of Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron stated that Pertamina’s contribution is marked by the naming rights to the circuit, which was inaugurated on 21 November 2024. ‘Pertamina’s involvement through the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is one of the company’s participations in developing young racers in Indonesia,’ Baron said in a statement on Monday. It is hoped that the circuit will not only be used during MotoGP events but also serve as a means to hone the experience of young Indonesian racers, particularly those currently participating in the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series Round 2, as they climb the ladder of achievement at the international level. The young racers taking part in the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series 2026 appreciate the presence of this circuit. One of them is Muhammad Fadhil Musyafi from the Yamaha Pikoli Global Ondolomon DRS team. He admitted he was delighted to have the opportunity to compete on this world-class circuit, which boosts his spirit and motivation to perform at his best. ‘I happen to really like several areas of the Mandalika circuit, especially sectors 3 and 4, where I can ride freely and comfortably. I am very happy to have this valuable opportunity to test the circuit,’ he said. On the same occasion, Sudarmono, a mechanic for the Astra Motor Racing Team Yogyakarta, said that in racing activities, besides the motorcycle engine, technical aspects, and the individual racer, another important element is the circuit or track the racer will tackle. ‘The circuit is a crucial part and must have special standards. Through the Pertamina Mandalika Racing Series, all team members, from mechanics to racers, can experience the direct sensation of competing on an international-standard circuit,’ he explained.
