PT Pertamina (Persero) managed a leak in a Pertamina EP gas pipeline in Buni Bakti Village, Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, in less than 90 minutes thanks to the rapid response of a joint emergency team.

“The leak was confirmed to have occurred at 4:50 PM WIB and was successfully handled by 6:15 PM WIB,” said Imam Rismanto, Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR at PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), in Bekasi on Sunday evening.

He explained that the leak in the FRP pipe was indicated to be caused by activities related to the installation of the Cikampek-Plumpang fuel pipeline. The Pertagas Emergency Response Team and joint forces acted immediately to handle the situation and secure the area upon receiving the information.

A number of strategic and mitigation steps were taken, including securing the area in collaboration with the local Fire Brigade. These efforts also involved the authorities to ensure the situation remained under control and the location was sterilised for repair works.

“Since 6:15 PM WIB, the gas leak from the pipe has been successfully handled, and the gas flow has now been halted to isolate the leak point and prevent further risks,” he stated.

The joint team is now conducting recovery efforts accompanied by intensive monitoring of the situation, prioritising the safety of the community and all personnel involved in the work.

“Our top priority is the safety of the public and all personnel performing the work,” he added.
