PT Pertamina Lubricants is recorded as one of the players with one of the largest shares in the domestic lubricants market. Nugroho Setyo Utomo, VP Marketing of PT Pertamina Lubricants, said the company currently controls around 37 percent of the national lubricants market, for both industrial and automotive use. ‘We are around 37 percent. We are strongest in the industrial segment; for automotive it is very competitive. That is why our efforts here are significant in Indonesia,’ he said in Jakarta on Wednesday (4 February 2026). ‘We are not only competing with global lubricants companies; there are also genuine oils. Then there are local domestic players as well; it is good for competition,’ he added. According to Nugroho, the strategy that can be pursued is to continually launch products with quality that meets standards, and to provide the best service to customers. ‘The main challenge is how we have an outstanding product portfolio that complies with regulatory standards. Domestically we have SNI, internationally there is MPI, JASO. If we follow European OEMs, there is ACEA,’ he said. On the other hand, the lubricants market in Indonesia is expected to continue expanding in the coming years. Demand is projected to rise to about 1.23 billion litres in 2026 and to continue growing to about 1.41 billion litres by 2031. In other words, the domestic lubricants market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 2.71 percent over the 2026–2031 period.
