Jakarta — PT Pertamina (Persero) has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the stability of national energy supplies by prioritising worker safety and operational continuity through strengthened risk mitigation and intensive monitoring amid Middle East geopolitical dynamics.

In an official statement issued in Jakarta on Monday, Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron stated that the company is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian embassies (KBRI) and consulates general (KJRI), as well as local authorities to intensively monitor all personnel, operations and fleet assets located in the Middle East region.

“Pertamina has prepared risk mitigation measures and strengthened communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, KBRI, KJRI and local authorities to ensure operational continuity and crew safety,” Baron said.

As the backbone of Indonesia’s energy sector, Baron stated the company is ensuring all business lines—from crude oil supply to domestic fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) provision—continue operating optimally and under controlled conditions.

Three strategic business units are directly exposed to regional dynamics: PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) Non Captive, which handles global energy transportation; Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP), which operates upstream operations in Basra, Iraq; and Pertamina Patra Niaga, which sources crude oil and products from Middle East suppliers.

The state-owned enterprise will continue monitoring developments in global energy dynamics and implementing mitigation measures to ensure the continuity of global supply chains and maintenance of national energy resilience.

Pertamina maintains a diversified portfolio of crude oil, fuel and LPG supply sources from both domestic production and various partner countries. This diversification provides flexibility in supply management amid geopolitical dynamics.

The company is also optimising domestic refinery operations to maintain balance between production and distribution. Through integrated supply chain management spanning upstream to downstream operations, Pertamina ensures the availability of fuel and LPG for the public remains safe, adequate and controlled.

“As the vanguard of national energy security, Pertamina is tightening oversight and endeavouring to maintain the security of crude, fuel and LPG supplies to meet the needs of all Indonesian citizens,” Baron added.
