Pertamina Instils Earth Stewardship from Early Age During 2026 National Children's Day

Jakarta, VIVA – The habit of caring for the Earth does not simply emerge in adulthood; it is instilled from childhood through simple things children see and practise every day. Based on that conviction, to commemorate National Children’s Day (HAN) 2026, the Pertamina Foundation provided hands-on learning experiences for young children.

The commitment was carried out through educational visits to two schools under its management, namely TK Bumi Patra I in Pondok Ranji and TK Bumi Patra II in Cempaka Putih.

Gusman Adiwardhana, Operations Director of the Pertamina Foundation, added that the activity is part of the foundation’s long-term commitment to managing its partner schools as spaces for growth that excel not only academically but also build a character of environmental care from an early age.

“National Children’s Day is the right moment for us to instil environmental awareness from an early age. Through the theme ‘My Parents and I Care for the Earth’, we want children and parents to learn and directly practise environmentally friendly habits together, not just in theory. Programmes such as waste sorting, educational storytelling, and SAMUSAPO are expected to shape positive character and habits that children will carry into adulthood,” said Gusman in a statement on Friday, 24 July 2026.

Through this activity, the Pertamina Foundation hopes to build positive habitual character in children from an early age, while strengthening the bond between parents and children in applying a sustainable lifestyle for the future of the Earth.

“We believe that big changes for the Earth begin with small habits instilled while children are still in kindergarten. Collaboration between schools and parents is essential to ensure these values continue to be carried into their daily lives,” Gusman concluded.

The activity aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through fun and easily understood environmental education for young children, and SDG 13 (Climate Action) through the early instilling of values of care for the Earth’s sustainability.
