Pertamina Indramayu Iron Pipe Thieves Arrested, Losses Reach Rp2.3 Billion
The URC team of Indramayu Police has successfully detained two suspected perpetrators of iron pipe theft belonging to PT Pertamina EP Field Jatibarang. The theft of this national vital asset reportedly caused material losses exceeding Rp2.3 billion.
Indramayu Police Chief AKBP Prianggo P.M. confirmed the arrest of two suspects with the initials W alias K (39) and N (60). Both are residents of Karangampel District, Indramayu Regency. The arrests were made after officers conducted intensive tracking beyond the city.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Indramayu Police, AKP Muchammad Arwin Bahar, explained that suspect W was arrested in East Jakarta on Monday (17/8). At the same time, another team moved quickly to secure suspect N in Karangampel District, Indramayu.
“From preliminary statements, the iron pipe theft is strongly suspected to have been carried out not just once, but repeatedly on different days involving several other parties,” said Arwin on Wednesday (19/8).
Based on official calculations, the total losses from the theft in the PT Pertamina EP Field Jatibarang warehouse area reached USD 133,765.6. When converted using the December 2025 exchange rate of Rp17,700 per USD, the total losses exceeded Rp2,367,651,120.
In the operation, police seized evidence including two mobile phones and one wallet belonging to the suspects. Both perpetrators have been taken to Indramayu Police Headquarters for in-depth examination to fully uncover the network of the state asset theft syndicate.
