Pertamina Increases Fuel Supply for Labuan Bajo Tourism High Season
Pertamina Patra Niaga is increasing fuel oil (BBM) supplies to the Labuan Bajo region in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This additional supply is being carried out during the period of high tourist visits or high season in Labuan Bajo.
Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga Jatimbalinus, Ahad Rahedi, revealed that Pertamina Patra Niaga has distributed 152 kilolitres (KL) of BBM to petrol stations in Labuan Bajo as of today. The fuel supplies include Pertalite, Pertamax, Pertamina Dex, and Biosolar.
“Supply to petrol stations in Labuan Bajo today: Pertalite 32 KL, Pertamax 56 KL, Pertamina Dex 40 KL, and Biosolar 24 KL,” said Ahad on Saturday (9/5/2026).
Ahad stated that Pertamina Patra Niaga is taking measures to mitigate the surge in BBM demand for tourist vessels in Labuan Bajo. Hundreds of tourist boats in Labuan Bajo require fuel to transport tourists sailing to Komodo National Park.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to meeting the BBM needs of the West Manggarai community, one of which is Labuan Bajo as a priority tourism destination area. BBM distribution is ensured in accordance with government regulations and sufficient for local community needs,” added Ahad.
Ahad acknowledged receiving information about complaints from the Labuan Bajo community regarding difficulties in obtaining diesel and Pertalite fuel over the past few days. According to him, Pertamina Patra Niaga is implementing several anticipatory and ongoing mitigation efforts to keep tourism activities in Labuan Bajo thriving. One of these is building up stock or increasing supplies for tourist vessel needs during the high season.
“In line with this activity, consumption of BBM for pinisi ships and speedboats has also increased. During this high season, Pertamina is carrying out mitigation, including through stock build-up as an effort to meet BBM needs in Labuan Bajo and surrounding areas,” explained Ahad.
In addition, Pertamina is prioritising BBM shipments from the BBM Terminal supply point to the Labuan Bajo region. Furthermore, at petrol stations, priority filling is being arranged for vehicle consumers and minimising filling for non-vehicle consumers to anticipate resellers/hoarders.
“With the implementation of these anticipatory and mitigation measures, it is hoped that the distribution process can run smoothly,” said Ahad.
Previously, several tourist boats in Labuan Bajo cancelled sailings carrying tourists to Komodo National Park due to fuel and LPG shortages in the area. Not only scarce, but the prices of BBM and LPG in Labuan Bajo have also skyrocketed.
“This BBM shortage is also concerning. Prices have already risen, and now it’s scarce too. Some boats and speedboats cancelled departures because they couldn’t get BBM. Besides BBM, LPG is also very scarce,” said the Chairman of the Labuan Bajo Tourist Boat Association (Askawi), Ahyar Abadi, on Thursday (7/5).
