Pertamina Increases Fuel Stocks in NTT, Distribution in Disaster Areas Recovers
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, through the Reo Fuel Terminal, continues to strengthen the security of fuel oil supply in East Nusa Tenggara. On Monday (24/8), the MT Musi vessel docked at the Reo Fuel Terminal jetty and delivered 200,000 litres of Pertalite to secure the energy needs of communities in the Greater Manggarai region.
VP Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, said the MT Musi is the fourth vessel to dock at the Reo Fuel Terminal jetty since Tuesday (18/8), three days after the earthquake struck on 15 August. According to her, the receipt of Pertalite supply from the MT Musi vessel was carried out to maintain fuel stocks at a safe level following the disaster.
“Today the Pertalite supply is reinforced again with the arrival of the MT Musi vessel. We are unloading 200,000 litres in accordance with the safe capacity of the receiving tanks at our terminal, which currently still holds 300,000 litres of stock out of a total capacity of 500,000 litres. After unloading at Reo is complete, the vessel will immediately depart to supply the Waingapu Fuel Terminal,” Kitty said in a press release on Monday (24/8/2026).
The Pertalite fuel will subsequently be distributed to a number of areas within Reo’s operational region, covering Manggarai Regency, West Manggarai, and parts of East Manggarai. According to Kitty, the total amount of fuel supply entering and distributed through the Reo Fuel Terminal since the earthquake struck has reached approximately 2,000,000 litres, comprising Pertamax, Pertalite, Biosolar and Avtur.
Regarding land distribution, Kitty continued, the Reo Fuel Terminal moved quickly to overcome road access disruptions that had been severed in the East Manggarai area towards the Borong/Kota petrol station. Special mitigation strategies were implemented to ensure energy supply was not interrupted.
“Our strategy is to transfer fuel from tanker trucks into drums, then carry it across the severed route or bridge until it reaches the petrol station. The following day, the remaining supply is sent to the receiving tanker truck. Today we are trying to send a full load using an 8,000-litre capacity tanker truck directly towards Borong,” she explained.
In addition to Pertalite, on the same day, Monday (24/8), the MT Kilian vessel was also scheduled to dock at the Reo Fuel Terminal jetty carrying approximately 500,000 litres of Avtur supply. This supply is intended to anticipate the surge in avtur demand at Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo, which has increased significantly due to post-disaster flight activity as well as the approaching peak tourist season.
“This Avtur supply is important because consumption is rising rapidly along with high activity in Labuan Bajo during the peak season as well as post-disaster needs. The Avtur will be sent directly to the Komodo Airport Fuel Depot for aircraft operational needs,” she said.
Kitty also explained that with the continuous entry of fuel supplies in the earthquake-affected areas of NTT, distribution is confirmed to have recovered. She urged the public not to panic or engage in excessive purchasing.
“We urge the public to remain calm because fuel supply from the Reo Fuel Terminal has recovered. Given the potential for aftershocks, overly dense crowds at petrol stations could actually pose a risk of complicating evacuation efforts in an emergency. The public need not worry; fuel distribution services and operations are running normally,” Kitty stressed.
