Pertamina Increases Fuel Stock in Central Java's Southern Route for Eid Homecoming Rush
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Central Java (JBT) has increased reserves of fuel oil and LPG in the Southern Coast (Pansela) region of Central Java to anticipate surging energy demand from the public ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
Area Manager Communication, Relations and CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional JBT, Taufiq Kurniawan, stated that the supply increase is being carried out through the Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr Task Force (Satgas Rafi) 2026 in the Pansela Sales Area Tegal region. This area covers Banyumas, Banjarnegara, Cilacap, Purbalingga, and Kebumen regencies. “To ensure energy availability for the public during Ramadhan through Eid al-Fitr, we are increasing fuel and LPG stocks in the Pansela region,” he stated on Friday (13 March).
He explained that fuel supplies in the area are provided from the Maos Fuel Terminal in Cilacap Regency. During the Satgas Rafi period, Pertamina is increasing fuel stocks by approximately 4 to 5 per cent compared with normal conditions.
Meanwhile, LPG supplies are supported from the Balongan LPG Depot, Cilacap LPG Depot, and Obsico LPG Depot. LPG stocks are being increased by approximately 6.7 per cent to ensure smooth distribution during the Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr period.
Beyond stock increases, Pertamina is also projecting changes in public energy consumption patterns. Petrol consumption is estimated to rise by 23.3 per cent from the average daily normal rate of approximately 1,986 kilolitres to approximately 2,446 kilolitres per day.
Conversely, diesel consumption is estimated to decline by approximately 2.1 per cent from the average daily normal rate of approximately 993 kilolitres to approximately 973 kilolitres per day. This decline is estimated to occur due to reduced industrial activity during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
LPG consumption is projected to increase by approximately 13 per cent across several regions. In Banjarnegara Regency, for example, LPG consumption is estimated to rise from an average of 92 metric tonnes per day to approximately 104 metric tonnes per day.
In Banyumas Regency, LPG consumption is projected to increase from 192 metric tonnes per day to approximately 216 metric tonnes per day. Meanwhile, in Cilacap Regency it is rising from 184 metric tonnes to approximately 207 metric tonnes per day.
Increases are also estimated in Purbalingga Regency from 102 metric tonnes per day to approximately 115 metric tonnes per day, and in Kebumen Regency from 130 metric tonnes per day to approximately 146 metric tonnes per day.
“We ensure the readiness of energy infrastructure and distribution during Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr so that public needs remain fulfilled,” said Taufiq.
The Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has established a National Post for the ESDM sector as a centre for monitoring and coordinating energy services during the homecoming rush period. Commission XII member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ratna Juwita Sari has urged the government to strengthen national fuel reserves. Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has assured that national energy stock conditions, particularly fuel oil and LPG, remain at adequate levels. Commission VI member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Nevi Zuairina has reminded of the importance of maintaining stable distribution and public confidence regarding the availability of national fuel supplies.
