Pertamina Hulu Indonesia's Oil and Gas Production in Q1 2026 Exceeds Targets
PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), a subsidiary of Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding that manages upstream oil and gas assets in Kalimantan, recorded oil and gas production above targets throughout the first quarter of 2026.
“Throughout January to March 2026, the company recorded oil production exceeding 120% of the target. Positive performance was also shown for gas production, with realisations around 104% of the target,” stated PHI Senior Manager of Relations, Handri Ramdhani, in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
The production achievements were obtained by PHI together with its subsidiaries managing upstream oil and gas operations in the Kalimantan region, namely PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga, and PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur. PHI also manages assets of PT Pertamina EP and PHE in this region.
Handri stated that PHI’s oil and gas production achievements reflect the positive trend in the performance of the national upstream oil and gas sector.
It was noted that PHI’s oil production realisation for the January-February 2026 period reached 60,300 barrels per day from a target of 49,400 barrels per day (bpd), or around 122%.
Meanwhile, gas production also recorded positive performance. The realisation reached 606,000 MSCFD from a target of 583,000 MSCFD, or around 104%.
The largest contribution to this performance came from PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), one of PHI’s subsidiaries managing the Mahakam Block in East Kalimantan.
Handri explained that this achievement is part of the upstream oil and gas industry’s efforts to support the government’s energy self-sufficiency targets.
He stated that the company also appreciates the support from the media so far and emphasises the importance of maintaining harmonious and collaborative relations to create public support for oil and gas operations and production that play a strategic role in national energy availability and security.
“We hope that the rapport built so far becomes collaboration and synergy for sustainable operations,” Handri continued at the BASO IGA PHI event (Bincang Asik Soal Migas Ala PHI).
On that occasion, PHI also relaunched the “Apresiasi Pewarta Energi Kalimantan 2026” (APEKA 2026) programme, a journalism competition specifically related to PHI’s role and contributions to the upstream oil and gas industry and national energy security.
This APEKA programme underscores the company’s commitment to opening wider participation spaces for the press to produce quality journalistic works in the energy sector, particularly upstream oil and gas.
