Pertamina Hulu Energi Launches 'Lensa Energi' Eye Health Programme for 2,200 Students

Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) has launched the ‘Lensa Energi’ (Energy Lens) programme, a community development initiative targeting eye health examinations for 2,200 elementary school students across its operational areas. PHE Director of Risk Management, Whisnu Bahriansyah, stated in Jakarta on Thursday that the programme focuses on improving the eye health of school-age children. “This Lensa Energi programme will reach 15 of PHE’s operational areas, spanning Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, to eastern Indonesia, with a target of more than 2,200 students receiving eye examinations,” he said. The initial phase of the programme was held at SDN 01 Pagi Pulau Kelapa in the Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta, on Wednesday (22/7/2026), involving over 160 fifth and sixth-grade students from SDN 01 and SDN 02 Pagi Pulau Kelapa. Through eye health examinations and the provision of glasses for students with medical indications, the programme supports the early detection of vision impairments, enabling students to learn more comfortably and optimally. Whisnu stated that Pertamina’s presence is not only to maintain national energy security but also to deliver tangible benefits to communities around its operational areas. “Pertamina Hulu Energi, through PHE OSES, operates in offshore waters not far from where we stand today. This means the people of Pulau Kelapa are neighbours to our operational area. We believe a good company is measured not only by production figures but also by the positive impact it leaves on the community, so that we can grow together harmoniously,” he said during the Lensa Energi event at SDN 01 Pagi Pulau Kelapa. He explained that Lensa Energi was born from a spirit of combining ecosystems and innovation, an approach that encourages a balance between environmental sustainability and community development in operational areas.
