Pertamina Helps Underprivileged Residents Meet Basic Needs Through Affordable Market Programme
The programme began in Tuban Regency, East Java, on Saturday (11/4/2026) and will be implemented gradually in several Pertamina operational areas.
Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, stated that this affordable market programme targets underprivileged communities in deciles 1-4 based on the National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN).
The affordable market aims to ease the economic burden on the community while serving as a solution for underprivileged families amid fluctuations in essential goods prices.
“In the midst of global dynamics, Pertamina hopes this affordable market programme can help underprivileged communities meet their basic needs,” said Baron in his statement on Sunday (12/4/2026).
The inaugural implementation in Tuban targeted residents from four villages around the company’s operational area, namely Remen Village, Tasikharjo Village, Purworejo Village, and Mentoso Village. These villages were designated based on criteria for underprivileged communities by the Tuban Regency Local Government.
As part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility Programme (TJSL), Pertamina ensures this programme runs sustainably and provides direct benefits to the community.
Each beneficiary family receives a staple goods package consisting of 5 kg of rice, 2 litres of cooking oil, 2 kg of sugar, 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 bottle of sweet soy sauce, and 1 can of sardines. The package, with a normal price of Rp211,000, can be redeemed by the community for only Rp30,000.
“The proceeds from the sale of these staple goods packages will be fully channelled back to support development as well as operational facilities for places of worship, village infrastructure, and orphanages in the implementation areas,” explained Baron.
Pertamina also ensures even distribution through its Downstream Subholding, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, with support from local government and various stakeholders, including social institutions, religious organisations, and foundations.
“The determination of beneficiaries is carried out by the local government to ensure the programme is on target and truly reaches those in need,” stated Baron.
Pertamina’s Affordable Market Programme is also part of the company’s ongoing efforts to deliver beneficial energy for the welfare of communities throughout Indonesia.
