Pertamina Halts Pertalite Distribution at Bekasi Timur Fuel Station Following Water-Contaminated Fuel Incident
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Barat (JBB) has temporarily halted the distribution of Pertalite fuel at the Bekasi Timur fuel station in Bekasi City following consumer complaints regarding fuel allegedly contaminated with water.
The action was taken after reports of customer grievances when Pertalite suspected of being mixed with water was dispensed at the station. According to Satria, a company spokesperson, 21 motorcycles and 4 cars experienced difficulties and have been attended to.
“Some vehicles have been fully repaired and returned to operational condition, whilst repairs to other vehicles are still ongoing until completion,” explained Satria.
Regarding the cause of the incident, the company is still conducting an investigation into the alleged water contamination in the Pertalite fuel. Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional JBB has assured customers that Pertalite products at other fuel stations in the surrounding area are in safe condition with no similar complaints reported.
Earlier reports indicated that several motorists in Bekasi City had complained that their motorcycles stalled immediately after refuelling at the Pertamina fuel station in the Bekasi Timur area. The fuel station management acknowledged the presence of water mixed with the fuel and issued an apology to consumers.
