PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional West Java (JBB) has temporarily suspended the distribution of Pertalite petrol at a fuel station in Bekasi Timur, Bekasi City.

The measure was taken following consumer complaints after refuelling with Pertalite that was allegedly contaminated with water at the station. According to a company spokesperson, 21 motorcycles and four cars experienced problems and have been attended to.

“Some vehicles have been fully repaired and are back in use, whilst repairs on other vehicles are ongoing until completion,” the spokesperson explained.

Regarding the cause of the incident, Pertamina is conducting an investigation into the alleged water contamination in the Pertalite fuel. The company has assured consumers that Pertalite supplies at other stations in the surrounding region are safe and have not received similar complaints.

Previously, several motorists in Bekasi City complained that their motorcycles stalled shortly after refuelling at the Pertamina service station in the Bekasi Timur area. The station management acknowledged the presence of water mixed in the fuel and apologised to customers.
