Pertamina Goes to Campus 2026 Seeks Creative and Innovative Students
PGTC 2026 opened with a ceremony attended by Pertamina’s executive management, ITB’s Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Irwan Meilano, and Prof. Junaidi Khotib, Secretary of the Directorate General for Research and Development at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. Corporate Secretary of Pertamina, Arya Dwi Paramita, said that PGTC 2026 is designed as a strategic platform to cultivate a generation of successors who not only carry academic credentials, but also practical approaches gained from interacting with industry. ‘We are presenting Pertamina as a whole group to give a picture of the business processes in the industry, so they can see the alignment between the knowledge they possess and understand the opportunities for those who want to pursue a career at Pertamina,’ Arya said in a written statement on Thursday (21 May 2026). From an academic perspective, Prof. Irwan Meilano welcomed the initiative as strengthening the synergy between campus and industry. ‘The presence of Pertamina on campus through PGTC provides real-world insights for students into the challenges of the future industry from an early stage. We hope the programme opens students’ minds and helps us on campus to improve curricula to be closer and more relevant to the dynamic development of the industry. Through this collaboration we can make a tangible contribution to the advancement of education,’ he said. In line with this, Prof. Junaidi Khotib emphasised the importance of corporate sector support in the student research ecosystem, which will provide great benefits, especially for enhancing competitiveness and reinforcing the relevance of education. ‘The government continues to push for research and innovation that are relevant to the needs of the nation. PGTC is a manifestation of Pertamina’s contribution as an industry that is present earlier on campus, providing very good insights for students before they enter the world of industry. We hope this event can touch more universities and inspire other companies and industries to get involved, to support the advancement of Indonesia’s education,’ Prof. Junaidi said. As additional information, the PGTC 2026 kick-off serves as a momentum for an open call for the national competitions Energy Debate Championship (EDC) and Energynovation Ideas Competition (EIC) for students nationwide. In addition to the opening ceremony, the event also features Energizing Talks titled ‘Energizing Indonesia: From National Strategy to Everyday Action’ and a Youth Stage session that provides inspiration on personal development and career opportunities in the energy sector. Not only that, Pertamina also introduces the Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2026 programme, a national-level business idea competition whose registration will begin in early June. The programme is complemented by an expo area in ITB’s West Hall displaying information about careers, internships, scholarships, and student development programmes from the Pertamina Group. Through PGTC 2026, Pertamina continues to strive to be a space for collaboration for Indonesia’s younger generation in creating tangible contributions to a greener and more sustainable energy future.
