Pertamina gets ISO 9001

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina received on Wednesday an ISO 9001 certificate for the design, operation, and maintenance of its 430 kilometer long East Java gas transmission pipeline.

The award was presented by ABS Quality Evaluation Inc., an international and independent institution for the issuance of ISO 9001 certificates, according to Pertamina.

"The ISO 9001 shows Pertamina's commitment to become a reputable company through compliance with international standards," Pertamina upstream director Gatot K. Wiroyudo said in his speech during the acceptance ceremony.

Gatot said that the East Java gas pipeline supplies an average of 350 million cubic feet of gas per day from the Kangean gas field in the Pagerungan Island to Gresik.

"The pipeline covers a 360 kilometer underwater pipeline connecting the Pagerungan island with Porong; the pipes have a diameter of 28 inches," Gatot explained.

The pipeline supplies natural gas to consumers, state electricity company PT PLN, state gas company PT PGN, and petrochemical company PT Petrokimia Gresik in East Java. (bkm/alx)
