Pertamina: Fuel Distribution Safe Despite Cargo Plane Incident in Nunukan
Tanjung Selor (ANTARA) — PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan has confirmed that fuel stocks and distribution remain safe and operating normally following a cargo aircraft accident involving a fuel-carrying plane in Krayan, Nunukan Regency.
"We continue to ensure that fuel stocks in the Krayan area and surrounding regions are in a safe condition," said Edi Mangun, Area Manager for Communication, Relations and CSR at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan, in a written statement received from Tanjung Selor on Thursday.
To maintain supply stability, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan has prepared alternative distribution schemes as a mitigation measure to ensure the community's energy needs continue to be met without disruption.
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan expressed its deepest condolences and concern over the cargo plane incident that occurred in the Pa'bettung area, East Krayan District, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan. Pertamina offered prayers for the handling process to proceed smoothly and for strength to be given to all affected parties.
Edi stated that PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan continues to coordinate intensively with aviation operators, field teams and the relevant authorities to ascertain the chronology and developments of the situation accurately and in a verified manner.
"We continue to coordinate with our field teams and relevant parties to ensure that all information communicated has undergone a verification process," Edi explained.
Based on the latest information received, the aircraft involved in the incident was an Air Tractor AT-802 with registration PK-PAA, serving a charter cargo flight transporting fuel in support of the One Price Fuel distribution programme to border areas.
The flight was crewed by a single pilot with no cabin crew or passengers.
According to the most recent monitoring, the aircraft had reportedly completed its fuel distribution mission to Long Bawan and was on its return journey to Juwata Airport in Tarakan.
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan respects the investigation process being conducted by the competent authorities and will continue to monitor developments whilst ensuring that fuel distribution proceeds optimally.
