Pertamina facilitates halal certification for 50 mentored MSMEs
PT Pertamina (Persero) is facilitating halal certification for 50 mentored micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from various sectors to improve business competitiveness and expand market access.
In a statement released in Jakarta on Friday, Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, noted that the programme includes MSMEs operating in food and beverage, fashion, handicrafts, body care, beauty, and other business sectors.
“The halal certification facility is part of Pertamina’s continuous coaching to help MSMEs improve product quality, meet legality aspects, and strengthen business competitiveness,” he explained. Baron added that this support is part of Pertamina’s commitment to ensuring its mentored MSMEs become more resilient and competitive.
“Pertamina encourages mentored MSMEs to not only produce high-quality products but also to be supported by legality and certifications that can increase consumer trust. This halal certification facilitation is expected to provide added value to products while opening wider market opportunities,” said Baron.
According to Baron, Pertamina’s MSME development does not stop at certification. The company also provides training, mentoring, product quality improvement, and marketing development support tailored to the needs and developmental stages of each business.
“We hope that mentored MSMEs can utilise halal certification as capital to continue innovating, maintaining product quality, and expanding marketing networks. Pertamina will continue to serve as a partner supporting MSMEs to be ready to grow and compete,” he added.
Minie Sudjarwo, owner of MiniesQ and one of Pertamina’s mentored MSMEs, expressed that the halal certification facility is expected to provide tangible benefits for her business development. “Halal certification adds value to our products. We feel more confident offering products to a wider market and opening opportunities to collaborate with modern stores and other business partners. Pertamina’s support serves as an incentive for us to continue developing our business,” said Minie.
Through this programme, Pertamina hopes that more mentored MSMEs will be able to scale up their businesses, expand markets, and create added value for the economy. This initiative also supports the strengthening of the national halal product ecosystem and aligns with the policy of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) regarding the mandatory halal certification for food, beverage, cosmetics, and slaughter products, which must be implemented by October 2026 at the latest.
Baron concluded by stating that Pertamina is committed to providing coaching programmes relevant to MSME needs through capacity building, fulfilment of legality and certification, and expansion of market access, ensuring Indonesian MSMEs become more competitive and capable of contributing more significantly to national economic growth.
