Pertamina Explores Strategic Partnership with SLB to Boost Oil and Gas Production

PT Pertamina (Persero) is exploring a strategic partnership with SLB, a global technology provider, to accelerate the increase in national oil and gas production while enhancing operational efficiency.

The partnership exploration took place as part of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas, United States.

This step is part of Pertamina’s efforts to support energy independence through increased production and optimisation of domestic resources.

“Collaboration with technology partners like SLB is a strategic move to strengthen national energy resilience. We are not only driving production increases but also ensuring efficient, competitive, and sustainable operations,” stated in a press release received by Kompas.com on Friday (8/5/2026).

The exploration encompasses asset optimisation and operational reliability improvement, oil and gas production enhancement, cost efficiency, carbon emission reduction, as well as strengthening the utilisation of digital technology and data.

The company is also focusing on improving energy access while supporting decarbonisation towards Net Zero Emission (NZE).

With technological capabilities covering subsurface development, production systems, to digital and low-carbon solutions, SLB is considered capable of supporting the transformation and performance improvement in Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas sector.

This partnership demonstrates that oil and gas development now relies not only on resources but also on technology utilisation, operational efficiency, and sustainability.

Furthermore, this step is expected to support the realisation of sustainable energy resilience and national economic growth.
