Pertamina Expands Eco-Friendly SAF Aviation Fuel Services

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is strengthening its readiness for the development and commercialisation of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by expanding its International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) to five strategic locations across Indonesia. By 2026, this expansion will include the Juanda Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) and the Surabaya Integrated Terminal (IT), thereby increasing the reach of SAF services for airlines.

Entering its third year of implementation, the ISCC certification is part of Pertamina Patra Niaga’s efforts to ensure that SAF management and its sustainability attributes meet standards for compliance, governance, traceability, and Chain of Custody in accordance with internationally recognised sustainability standards.

Alimuddin Baso, Corporate Marketing Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated that expanding the ISCC certification to five locations is a strategic move to broaden access to SAF services while strengthening the company’s readiness to capture growth opportunities in Indonesia’s sustainable aviation market.

“With the wider scope of certification and supply chain readiness, we are optimistic that we can provide services that are increasingly aligned with airline needs while supporting the growth of the national SAF ecosystem,” Alimuddin said in a press release on Wednesday (2/9/2026).

The ISCC certification was issued on 8 August 2026 and is valid for one year. The five covered locations include AFT Soekarno-Hatta, AFT Halim Perdanakusuma, AFT Ngurah Rai, AFT Juanda, and IT Surabaya.

The addition of the Juanda Airport location also creates opportunities to meet voluntary demand from airlines in the Surabaya region and its surroundings. IT Surabaya also becomes the first Integrated Terminal within Pertamina Patra Niaga to be ISCC certified, expanding the application of sustainability standards to supply chains beyond Aviation Fuel Terminals.

This strengthening of certification simultaneously supports Pertamina Patra Niaga’s readiness for the implementation of the Indonesian Government’s SAF mandate starting in 2027, through the reinforcement of operations, infrastructure, and supply chain governance.

This step is part of Pertamina’s Dual Growth Strategy to develop the biofuel ecosystem and low-carbon business, while supporting efforts to achieve Indonesia’s 2060 Net Zero Emission target.
