Pertamina EP Zone 4 Increases Production by 4,834 BOPD from Two Wells
PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Zone 4 has recorded an increase in oil production with a maximum potential of 4,83<0xA0>4.8 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) from two development wells within the Prabumulih Field, specifically wells TLJ-261 and GNK-113.
General Manager of Pertamina EP Zone 4, Djudjuwanto, stated in a written report from Palembang, South Sumatra, on Thursday, that this achievement is part of the company’s efforts to maintain national energy security by optimising the potential of existing oil and gas fields. “The challenge of natural decline is being addressed through drilling technical accuracy and smart field operations. We are optimising the potential of existing fields,” he said.
He explained that the development of the two wells was carried out through infill drilling and step-out/interfield drilling strategies to increase production while creating opportunities for new oil and gas reserves. The TLJ-261 well, located between the Talang Jimar Tengah and Prabumulih Barat structures, began drilling on 20 April 2026 and completed its completion on 27 May 2026. Initial flow tests indicate the well has a production potential of 3,176.8 BOPD and 1.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas under open flow conditions. However, the well will be operated with a 9-millimetre choke opening to produce a regular output of approximately 707 BOPD, in accordance with reservoir management strategies to ensure long-term production sustainability. The success of the TLJ-261 drilling also opens opportunities for further development in the Talang Jimar Barat compartment area.
Meanwhile, well GNK-113, located in the Gunung Kemala Structure Sector III, recorded a potential oil production of 1,658 BOPD and 1.453 MMSCFD of gas, based on initial flow tests conducted on 31 May 2026. The drilling of GNK-113 is an infill well as part of the ongoing development programme in the Gunung Kemala area. This success is seen as opening opportunities for field development in the northern part of the Sector III compartment and the step-out area to the east.
Furthermore, Senior Manager of SSDP PEP Zone 4, Reza Nur Ardianto, added that the success of these two wells strengthens the company’s confidence in the potential for further development in the Talang Jimar and Gunung Kemala regions. “The achievements in wells TLJ-261 and GNK-113 further reinforce our confidence in the potential for continued development in the Talang Jimar and Gunung Kemala areas. In 2027, PEP Zone 4 plans to continue drilling wells using both step-out/interfield and infill methods as part of our efforts to optimise reservoir potential in the region,” he said.
