Pertamina enters India
BOMBAY (AFP): U.S. firm Coastal Corp. has agreed with
Indonesia's state-owned oil and gas company, Pertamina, to
develop liquefied natural gas (LNG) import projects in India, the
Asian Age daily said Tuesday.
It said the Houston-based energy firm would develop gas
receiving terminals, natural gas pipelines and gas-fired combined
cycle power projects in India.
Pertamina would transport gas from new and existing sources in
Indonesia to supply fuel to the coastal projects, it added.
Pertamina chief executive Faisal Abda'oe said: "India
represents an important new market for Indonesian LNG.
"Coastal Corp. brings commercial and technical expertise
necessary to help Pertamina expand its LNG presence in the
growing Indian market."
Coastal Corp. chief David Arledge added: "We believe Pertamina
and Coastal can develop innovative solutions to establish
liquefied natural gas as environmentally-friendly, competitively-
priced fuel."
