Pertamina Enters Fortune Southeast Asia 500, Clean Energy Transformation in the Spotlight

PT Pertamina (Persero) is being urged to accelerate its clean and sustainable energy transformation in the country. This strategic move is considered crucial for the optimal implementation of renewable energy and to deliver a tangible impact for the Indonesian people. The transformation issue has surfaced alongside Pertamina’s success in entering the prestigious Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list for 2026. This achievement is viewed as a golden momentum for the state-owned oil and gas company to strengthen its position at both the regional and global levels. Tulus Abadi, Chairman of the Indonesian Empowered Consumers Forum (FKBI), stated that this international recognition is a highly valuable branding asset. However, he stressed that such a major reputation must be accompanied by strengthened public service and a genuine commitment to the green agenda. “This position serves as important branding for Pertamina in the context of its international reputation. After all, Pertamina is a global oil company, so its inclusion in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 for 2026 holds very strategic value,” Tulus said in an interview on Thursday (18/6). While expressing appreciation, Tulus cautioned Pertamina against becoming complacent with its world-class company status. According to him, the most fundamental indicator of success is the quality of service felt directly by domestic consumers. He assessed that, generally, Pertamina has successfully maintained the reliability of energy distribution across various regions. However, future challenges will become increasingly complex, especially following the fuel price adjustments that recently drew public attention. “This world-class company status must be manifested in services felt directly by consumers within the country,” Tulus asserted. Beyond the service aspect, commitment to global climate change mitigation is an equally important point. Pertamina is expected to utilise this international recognition to become a leader in green energy development in the Southeast Asian region. Tulus concluded that improving service quality is the main key to maintaining Pertamina’s reputation. By ensuring energy availability while strengthening the transition to clean energy, Pertamina is expected to answer the challenges of the times as a future energy corporation.
