Pertamina ensures Pertalite and Biosolar prices will not increase

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has ensured that the prices of subsidised fuels, such as Pertalite and Biosolar, will not experience any increases until the end of 2026, in line with government directives, despite fluctuations in global oil prices and the Rupiah’s exchange rate against the US Dollar.

“Pertamina Patra Niaga is following the Government’s policy regarding fuel price determination. Although there are fluctuations in several price-forming parameters, such as global oil prices and exchange rates, there will be no price increases for subsidised fuel until the end of 2026, as per Government instructions,” stated Kitty Andhora, VP of Corporate Communication at Pertamina Patra Niaga, in a statement received in Yogyakarta on Saturday.

As for non-subsidised fuels, she continued, prices follow the formula established by the government. The government previously ensured that the prices of subsidised fuel would not rise until the end of 2026.

This policy is part of the Government’s efforts to maintain energy price stability and public purchasing power amidst the dynamics of global energy prices. Meanwhile, for General Fuel (JBU) or non-subsidised fuel, prices follow the formula set by the Government. The determination of JBU prices is conducted with reference to the applicable formulas and regulations.

Pertamina Patra Niaga remains committed to implementing Government policies regarding fuel pricing and distribution, ensuring that the energy needs of the public are well-met.

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that the government has decided to keep subsidised fuel prices from rising as a measure to protect the purchasing power of the lower-middle class. This decision was made amidst the dynamics of global oil prices, which the government continues to monitor under the direction of President Prabowo Subianto.

According to him, maintaining subsidised fuel prices amidst high oil prices is not a light policy, as it has the potential to increase the requirements for the subsidy budget. Despite these fiscal consequences, Bahlil noted that the government places the protection of public purchasing power as the primary consideration in determining energy pricing policies.
