Pertamina Ensures Fuel Supply in NTT Remains Secure After Earthquake

PT Pertamina (Persero) President Commissioner Mochamad Iriawan inspected the Labuan Bajo Fuel Terminal in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Tuesday, 18 August 2026. The visit was conducted to ensure fuel supplies remain secure and energy distribution runs smoothly after earthquakes struck several areas in NTT.

During the visit, Iriawan also expressed appreciation to Pertamina workers who remained on duty amid the emergency situation. He described the field workers as “heroes” who keep energy supplies available for the public.

“I came here wanting to meet my heroes. These are the heroes, a small portion of whom are here, while the rest are in the field,” said Iriawan.

Iriawan was accompanied by PT Pertamina (Persero) Corporate Secretary Arya Dwi Paramita, Director of Downstream Optimisation and Distribution at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) Hari Purnomo, PT PPN Corporate Secretary Roberth Marcelino Verieza Dumatubun, EGM of PT PPN Regional Jatimbalinus Iwan Yudha Wibawa, GHO of PT PPN Jatimbalinus Bimo Sagus, and several other Pertamina officers.

According to Iriawan, his visit to Labuan Bajo was also to observe first-hand the condition and spirit of Pertamina Group officers tasked with maintaining energy availability in earthquake-affected areas, including West Manggarai, East Manggarai, and Ruteng.

He commended the rapid response of his team when road access from Ruteng to Labuan Bajo was temporarily cut off due to the earthquake. The situation prevented fuel tanker trucks from passing, forcing Pertamina to find alternative distribution routes.

Within less than two days after the land route was severed, Pertamina dispatched a ferry carrying 11 fuel tanker trucks to Labuan Bajo. The sea route was chosen to maintain supply while preventing fuel shortages in the affected areas.

“Alhamdulillah, it was an extraordinary lifeline, so that until now there has been no shortage here,” said Iriawan.

Although fuel supply is generally secure, Iriawan said demand for kerosene in several areas has increased. Pertamina is coordinating with the relevant authorities regarding the possibility of increasing quotas.
