Pertamina Ensures Fuel Distribution in Central Sulawesi Remains Smooth After Earthquake
Palu (ANTARA) - Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi has confirmed that the operational distribution of fuel (BBM) energy in Central Sulawesi remains smooth after a magnitude 6.7 earthquake shook the province.
Sales Branch Manager (SBM) Sulteng I Fuel Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, Made Bilan Asasia, stated in a written statement received in Palu on Tuesday that monitoring results show all petrol stations (SPBU) and fuel distribution agencies continue to provide services.
He said that so far there have been no reports of damage or operational disruptions affecting energy distribution to the public. Pertamina guarantees that BBM and LPG stocks in Central Sulawesi are fulfilled and sufficient to meet public needs. The distribution process from fuel terminals and LPG facilities is also running smoothly, ensuring energy supply is maintained across all service areas.
As a precautionary measure, Pertamina has instructed all distribution agencies to continue operations in accordance with applicable safety standards, conduct regular checks of facilities and infrastructure, and immediately report any damage or conditions that could potentially disrupt services.
“Coordination with local governments, relevant agencies, and other stakeholders continues to ensure field conditions remain safe and conducive, in anticipation of possible aftershocks,” he said.
Meanwhile, Area Manager Communication Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, Lilik Hardiyanto, conveyed that the safety of the public, workers, and business partners is the primary concern in any emergency situation.
“We continue to monitor the situation together with relevant agencies and ensure the operational readiness of energy distribution in Central Sulawesi is maintained. All distribution agencies remain on heightened alert and are following safety procedures with discipline,” he said.
He also urged the public to remain calm and not to purchase BBM or LPG excessively (panic buying). “The public does not need to worry. We ask people to buy energy products according to their needs so that services and distribution can remain optimal,” he said.
He advised that if the public requires information regarding Pertamina’s energy services or encounters obstacles in BBM and LPG distribution, they can contact the Pertamina Contact Center (PCC) at 135, which is ready to serve 24 hours a day.
“We hope that conditions in Central Sulawesi remain safe and that public activities can proceed as usual,” he said.
Lilik also expressed his prayers and best wishes for all those affected by the earthquake. “May the affected communities be granted safety, health, and strength in facing this situation,” he added.
Pertamina urges the public to continue following official information from BMKG and authorised agencies regarding seismic developments and to remain calm in their activities.
