Pertamina ensures energy facilities remain operational following North Sulawesi earthquake
Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi has ensured that the operational activities of energy facilities and fuel distribution remain uninterrupted following a 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck North Sulawesi.
“We want to ensure all energy facilities are in a normal state post-earthquake,” stated Lilik Hardiyanto, Area Manager of Communication, Relations, & CSR for Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, in a written statement. He noted that all operational facilities in North Sulawesi are being closely monitored, with energy availability for the public remaining a priority alongside safety aspects. Pertamina also expressed its sympathy and support for the communities affected by the disaster in several regions.
Arman Prastiono, the Integrated Terminal Manager of Bitung, stated that immediately after the earthquake, Pertamina activated emergency response procedures to ensure the safety of workers and partners, as well as the reliability of operational facilities. Following the earthquake, teams conducted thorough inspections of all operational infrastructure. “The inspection results show that the main facilities of the Bitung Integrated Terminal are in a safe condition and ready to support energy distribution to the community,” he said.
As a precautionary measure against potential tsunami risks, operations at the Tahuna Fuel Terminal have been temporarily suspended in accordance with directives from the local government, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and local authorities. Initial checks indicate that the Tahuna Fuel Terminal infrastructure remains undamaged and reliable. Operations at the Tahuna terminal will resume once official information from BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency) and relevant authorities confirms that conditions are safe.
Other Pertamina operational facilities in the affected areas, including the Gorontalo Integrated Terminal and the Sam Ratulangi Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT), have undergone comprehensive inspections and are reported to be in safe condition. “All these facilities continue to operate to serve the energy needs of the community,” Prastiono added. He further noted that the company is coordinating intensively with local governments, BPBD, BMKG, and relevant stakeholders to ensure all actions align with the evolving situation on the ground.
