Pertamina: Energy distribution in Central Sulawesi unaffected after earthquake

Pertamina Patra Niaga has stated that the distribution of fuel oil (BBM) and LPG in Central Sulawesi has not been disrupted after a magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Parigi Moutong Regency on Saturday evening (15/8).

“Energy fuel distribution in Central Sulawesi and its surroundings continues to run smoothly after being shaken by the earthquake,” said Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, Lilik Hardiyanto, in a written statement received in Palu on Sunday.

Pertamina also confirmed that the earthquake caused no damage or disruption to operational facilities and infrastructure in Central Sulawesi, ensuring that the community’s energy needs can still be met.

The company continues to coordinate with operational teams in the field and relevant parties to ensure that the entire energy distribution process runs properly.

“Inspection and monitoring of operational facilities and infrastructure are also being carried out continuously as part of efforts to maintain safety aspects and distribution reliability,” he said.

He emphasised that safety is a priority in every operational activity, and monitoring is also carried out periodically to anticipate developments in the field, including the possibility of aftershocks.

He asked the public to remain calm and not to panic, as Pertamina guarantees that the community’s energy needs will be met.

“I ask the public not to take advantage of the earthquake situation to hoard fuel or LPG for certain interests. So far the situation is under control,” said Lilik.

According to him, if the public needs information or wishes to submit complaints regarding energy services, they can contact Pertamina Customer Solution (PCS) 135. Every report will be followed up in accordance with applicable mechanisms.

“If the public finds irregularities in energy distribution at petrol stations or LPG agents, please report it to us immediately, and we confirm that such actions violate the provisions,” he added.
