Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina (Persero) states that empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) through various programmes is part of the company’s strategy to create sustainable impacts.

Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday that the company is committed to continuously supporting UMKM to become more resilient, adaptive, and competitive, enabling them to grow and penetrate wider markets, including global ones.

Baron mentioned that one of Pertamina’s empowerment programmes is through Rumah BUMN by organising the Kartini 2026 webinar, which was attended by more than 500 UMKM participants from various regions in Indonesia.

“This event, in commemoration of Kartini Day, is a tangible manifestation of Pertamina’s commitment to encouraging UMKM to become more resilient and capable of advancing in the midst of global dynamics,” said Baron.

Meanwhile, Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Small Medium Enterprise Partnership Programme (SMEPP) Management, Rudi Ariffianto, in his opening remarks at the webinar on Wednesday (22/4), highlighted the current global economic challenges, including rising production costs that impact UMKM’s selling power.

“Currently, UMKM are being tested on their resilience. However, our economic indicators show fairly good conditions. Strong resilience must be accompanied by innovation and perseverance so that UMKM can open new market opportunities and continuously improve their competitiveness,” said Rudi.

The webinar featured speaker Nilamsari Sahadewa, Founder of Kebab Turki Baba Rafi, who shared experiences in building a business from a cart scale to penetrating international markets.

For this reason, she emphasised the importance of a strong business foundation, work culture, and resource readiness in facing business growth, including strategies for building brands and handling crises.

In line with this, Pertamina through 30 Rumah BUMN has nurtured as many as 15,884 UMKM.

From January to March 2026, there were 1,323 certifications, 267 training sessions, and 179 local exhibitions facilitated by Pertamina for supported UMKM.

Baron added that the momentum of Kartini Day serves as a reminder that the spirit of struggle, innovation, and resilience must continue to live within Indonesian UMKM actors to step further and bring local products to the world stage.

The commemoration of Kartini Day, he continued, also underscores the importance of wise energy use amid cost pressures and global dynamics.

Energy efficiency and sustainable energy utilisation are not just about reducing costs, but are key to competitiveness and added value for UMKM.

“With these steps, UMKM not only survive but advance stronger while contributing to national energy resilience,” said Baron.
