Jakarta - PT Pertamina (Persero) is once again holding the Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026, an annual event that this year carries the theme “Spark the Change, Leave Zero Trace”. This year’s focus invites the public to take tangible action in reducing, understanding, and engaging in plastic waste processing through various activities.

Director of Risk Management at PT Pertamina (Persero), Ahmad Siddik Badruddin, stated that the spirit of sustainability is a crucial part of the Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026. Entering its 13th year, Eco RunFest has evolved from a sporting event into a festival that brings together sports, music, lifestyle, and community, while promoting environmental awareness.

“For Pertamina, sport is not just about who reaches the finish line fastest. Sport teaches us about spirit, discipline, resilience, togetherness, and consistency to keep moving forward. These values are also part of Pertamina’s spirit in providing the best energy for Indonesia. These values also serve as a trigger for us in promoting various sustainability initiatives, including efforts to reduce environmental impact,” said Siddik during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/08/2026).

Meanwhile, Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, said the Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026 presents seven sustainability initiatives. The seven initiatives include eco jersey, eco innovation, eco mission, eco talent, eco production, eco waste management, and eco education.

“Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026 is a movement that invites the public to participate directly in protecting the environment. These sustainability initiatives are not merely rhetoric, but are concretely embodied in various activities, from the use of production materials, the making of running jerseys, to waste management,” said Baron.

Baron said that as an energy company, Pertamina continues to strive to deliver more responsible and sustainable energy. Through Eco RunFest, the company wants to present an event that is not merely a sporting event and music festival, but an effort to promote a healthier lifestyle and environmental awareness.

“All profits from ticket sales for the Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026 will be donated 100 percent to support the implementation of eco mission. Thus, every ticket purchased is not only part of participation, but participants can provide tangible benefits for various environmental programmes,” said Baron.

The eco jersey initiative, for example, is marked by the use of plastic bottle and textile waste as material for runners’ jerseys. Circular economy principles are applied through eco production by optimising the use of recycled and rented materials, as well as reusing several production elements from the previous year’s event.

In the eco waste management initiative, Pertamina provides waste management across the entire series of activities, from the press conference, Road to Event, to the implementation of Pertamina Eco RunFest, including organic waste processing through the Maggot Corner. Youth involvement also strengthens the Eco Innovation initiative by providing a space for students to develop waste management solutions in their school environment.

Furthermore, the eco mission initiative connects the event with benefits that can be felt by schools, communities, and public spaces. Eco talent involves public figures to campaign for environmentally friendly habits in daily life.

Pertamina also provides a sustainability dashboard and carbon calculator to help the public understand the environmental footprint of their activities as part of eco education.

“We hope all these initiatives can encourage the spirit of protecting the environment so that it does not stop after the event ends, but can be applied as part of daily habits,” Baron explained.

Support for Eco RunFest 2026 was shown by the presence of the Head of the Youth and Sports Agency of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Andri Yansyah, the Chair of the Executive Board of the All-Indonesia Athletics Association (PB PASI), Setyo Haryo Wibisono, and national record holder athlete Odekta Elvina at the media gathering.

Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026 is scheduled to be held on 6 December 2026 in the Gelora Bung Karno and Istora area, Senayan, Jakarta. A total of 14,000 runners and 10,000 visitors are targeted to enliven the event, which is entering its 13th year.

Tickets for Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026 can be purchased through the MyPertamina application on 27 August 2026 specifically for My Pertamina Redemption Points and 28 August for public sales.
