JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (Pertamina Drilling) and PT Halliburton Indonesia have strengthened their strategic partnership in the oil and gas and geothermal drilling support services sector. The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both companies on Friday, 22 May 2026. This signing marks a step towards strengthening collaboration in developing conventional and unconventional oil and gas projects, as well as geothermal, both domestically and internationally. Pertamina Drilling’s Director General, Avep Disasmita, stated that the collaboration with Halliburton is part of the company’s strategy to expand onshore and offshore rig services in global markets. ‘This collaboration demonstrates Pertamina Drilling’s commitment to enhancing capabilities and expanding international business. We see significant opportunities in developing conventional and unconventional oil and gas projects, as well as geothermal, including potential cooperation in the Middle East,’ said Avep in a statement on Thursday, 28 May 2026. The scope of collaboration includes various energy industry support services such as rig services, project management, fracturing services, drilling bits, directional drilling, and measurement while drilling (MWD). Additional services include logging while drilling (LWD), wireline and tubing conveyed perforating, drill stem and surface well testing, drilling fluids, liner hangers, cementing, wellhead equipment, H2S handling, fishing, and coring services. Under the agreement, both companies will also discuss potential collaboration on the West Qurna Block project in Iraq. Pertamina Drilling has also expressed readiness to support Halliburton’s operational needs by providing services, personnel, and technical support as required by the projects. Both companies have agreed to continue detailed discussions on the scope of work, technical requirements, commercial arrangements, and collaboration mechanisms for the Iraqi projects. Meanwhile, Halliburton Indonesia’s President Director, Ankush Bhalla, welcomed the strengthened partnership, particularly to explore international project opportunities. ‘We see Pertamina Drilling’s experience and capabilities as supporting Halliburton’s operational needs, including for strategic overseas projects,’ said Ankush.
