TANGERANG - PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (Pertamina Drilling) and PT Halliburton Indonesia have entered into a strategic collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Tangerang on Friday, 22 May 2026.

The MoU signing marks the next step for both companies to strengthen collaboration in developing oil, gas, geothermal, and non-conventional gas support services, both domestically and internationally.

Pertamina Drilling’s President Director Avep Disasmita said the collaboration with Halliburton is part of the company’s strategy to expand onshore and offshore rig services in the global market.

“This partnership demonstrates Pertamina Drilling’s commitment to enhancing capabilities and expanding international business. We see significant opportunities in developing oil and gas, geothermal, and non-conventional gas projects, including potential collaborations in the Middle East,” Avep said.

He added that synergy with Halliburton is expected to drive technology transfer, improve human resource competence, and strengthen the competitiveness of the national drilling services industry.

The scope of collaboration between Pertamina Drilling and Halliburton Indonesia covers various energy sector support services, including rig services, project management, fracturing services, drilling bits, directional drilling, measurement while drilling (MWD), logging while drilling (LWD), wireline and tubing conveyed perforating services, drill stem test and surface well test services, drilling fluids services, liner hanger, cementing services, wellhead equipment and services, and H2S, fishing and coring services.

During the MoU discussions, both companies also explored potential collaboration on the West Qurna Block project in Iraq. Halliburton has proposed further talks on services Pertamina Drilling could support, including fishing services, centrifuge services, coring services, and casing running services.

Pertamina Drilling confirmed its readiness to support Halliburton’s operational needs through service provision, personnel, and technical support as required by the project. Both companies agreed to continue detailed discussions on work scope, technical requirements, commercial arrangements, and collaboration mechanisms for the Iraqi project.

Halliburton Indonesia’s President Director Ankush Bhalla welcomed the strengthened collaboration, stating: “We see Pertamina Drilling’s experience and capabilities as supportive of Halliburton’s operational needs, including for strategic projects abroad. We hope this collaboration will develop into broader and sustainable partnerships.”

Also present at the MoU signing were the Commissioner of PT Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP), Dharmawan H Samsu, PIEP’s President Director Syamsu Yudha, and other PIEP management officials.
