Pertamina Drilling Adds 4 New Rigs to Boost Oil and Gas Production

PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (Pertamina Drilling) President Director Avep Disasmita stated that the company has added four new rig units to support improved drilling performance. This is particularly aimed at meeting the well targets of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) in Riau Province. Avep said the four rigs have a capacity of 350 horsepower (HP) and are a mobile rig type, designed to increase operational flexibility in the field. “The rig is the first fully electric one, more environmentally friendly, using a joystick system making it more flexible in operations. Rig mobilisation becomes faster, which ultimately can improve time and cost efficiency,” said Avep. He explained that using a mobile rig allows the process of moving between drilling locations to be carried out more practically compared to conventional rigs, thereby accelerating the drilling work cycle. The addition of four rigs is also part of the company’s commitment to supporting the achievement of oil and gas well drilling targets managed by Pertamina Hulu Rokan. “We have prepared these four rigs to support the achievement of drilling targets for wells owned by Pertamina Hulu Rokan, so that national oil and gas production can be maintained,” said Avep. Furthermore, he emphasised that this step is a tangible manifestation of Pertamina Drilling’s contribution to supporting national energy self-sufficiency. Pertamina Drilling is committed to continuously supporting the nation’s energy independence through increasing operational capacity and capability. In general, Pertamina Drilling now operates 58 onshore rigs with 300–2000 horsepower (HP), two offshore workover rigs with a capacity of 550 HP, and three jack-up rigs resulting from a strategic collaboration with international company ADES. Not only conventional drilling services, the company also provides more than 16 types of associated drilling services through an Integrated Project Management (IPM) scheme. This service integrates various technologies and expertise to ensure drilling takes place more quickly, efficiently, and safely.
