Pertamina distributes aid to 700 residents affected by earthquake in NTT
Vice President Corporate Communication of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Kitty Andhora, said the company has distributed aid to 700 residents affected by the earthquake in Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Aid distribution began on Sunday (16/8) through the Maumere Fuel Terminal (FT), the Pertamina operational site closest to the affected area. Distribution was carried out at several points, namely Gelora Samador Field, Makendetung Sub-district, Waipare, Beru 1, Beru 2, and Waioti.
“Pertamina is here to channel the energy of kindness, strengthen affected communities, and together encourage them to recover. Through FT Maumere and the CID team, we moved quickly to distribute aid and coordinate with the local government so that assistance can be received by residents in need,” Kitty said in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday.
The aid distributed includes basic food packages, mineral water, cleaning supplies, and other emergency necessities such as refugee tents and blankets.
Kitty added that Pertamina will continue to coordinate with the local government and monitor conditions on the ground to ensure support can be provided according to the needs of affected communities.
“For us, care is not just about giving, but about being present when the community needs it. Pertamina Peduli will continue to channel the energy of kindness, strengthen, and walk together with the community until they recover,” she said.
Appreciation for Pertamina’s concern was expressed by the Acting Head of Meken Detung Village, Antonius Moa, who represented the affected village communities.
“On behalf of all residents of Meken Detung Village, we thank Pertamina for being present to help ease what we have experienced due to the earthquake. The assistance provided is very useful for the village community,” he said.
As is known, the earthquake centred in the Flores Sea, about 30–38 kilometres northeast of Mbay, Nagekeo Regency, also affected communities in Sikka Regency, Maumere.
