Pertamina Deputy CEO Stresses Urgency of Cross-Business Collaboration to Strengthen Energy Security

Jakarta – PT Pertamina (Persero) Deputy Director Oki Muraza has stressed the importance of synergy between the company’s subholdings and business units to support national energy security, particularly amidst the high energy demand on Java Island. The message was conveyed during a Management Walkthrough (MWT) to several operational areas in Java, including the Early Production Facilities (EPF) Akasia Prima Structure at the Jatibarang Field operated by PT Pertamina EP, the Onshore Processing Facility (OPF) Balongan operated by PHE Offshore North West Java (ONWJ), and the Pertamina Patra Niaga Balongan Refinery, on Friday, 5 June 2026. Oki stated that all entities within Pertamina must move with a ‘One Pertamina’ spirit so that operational challenges can be resolved collectively. ‘Pertamina is one entity. If there is a problem, we solve it together. We find the solution together with the One Pertamina spirit,’ he said. He assessed that Java Island is the region with the largest energy needs in Indonesia, requiring strong collaboration from the upstream to the downstream sectors. This synergy is necessary not only to increase oil production but also to ensure that the supply of natural gas for the public and industry is maintained. ‘The Java cluster has enormous energy needs. Therefore, all lines must synergise, from upstream to downstream, both in meeting the needs for oil and gas,’ he stated. The Balongan Refinery is Pertamina’s most complex refinery, with a processing capacity of up to 150,000 barrels per day, capable of producing high-quality fuel products primarily intended to meet the fuel needs of West Java. Meanwhile, the Jatibarang field is part of the strategic upstream oil and gas assets of Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, with operational areas covering three regencies: Indramayu, Cirebon, and Majalengka. The development of the Akasia Prima structure in this field is one of the steps to strengthen the achievement of national energy security. Furthermore, the OPF Balongan is a gas processing facility in Balongan, Indramayu Regency, which has been operating since 2014. It processes natural gas produced from the PHE ONWJ offshore fields before distribution to consumers, with a processing capacity of up to 40 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
