State energy company Pertamina says it considers public purchasing power when setting prices for non-subsidised fuels.

“The component of public purchasing power is certainly one of our considerations in setting prices,” said Pertamina Vice President of Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron on the sidelines of the Pertamina 2026 Journalism Appreciation event in Jakarta on Thursday.

He made the statement when asked about the price of Pertamax (RON 92) remaining at Rp16,250 per litre, and Pertamax Green (RON 95) at Rp17,000 per litre.

Baron added that Pertamina follows the fuel price calculation formula stipulated in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022, which governs the basic price formula for calculating retail selling prices of general petrol and diesel fuels distributed through public filling stations.

“What happened on 1 July was based on the rules, regulations and, of course, world oil prices,” Baron said.

Regarding the potential shift of consumers from Pertamax to Pertalite due to a widening price gap, Baron said Pertamina continues to monitor the distribution of its fuels.

“We continue to monitor, so in terms of distribution we are looking at how we distribute non-subsidised and subsidised fuels,” he said.

PT Pertamina (Persero) announced that prices for non-subsidised diesel fuels, such as Pertamina Dex and Dexlite, as well as Pertamax Turbo, decreased starting 1 July 2026.

In the Greater Jakarta area, the price of Dexlite (CN 51) fell to Rp19,700 per litre from Rp23,000 per litre in June. Pertamina Dex (CN 53) also dropped to Rp21,150 per litre from Rp24,800 per litre.

A similar change occurred for Pertamax Turbo (RON 98), which decreased to Rp19,300 per litre from Rp20,750 per litre.

Meanwhile, the prices of Pertamax (RON 92) and Pertamax Green (RON 95) remained at Rp16,250 and Rp17,000 per litre respectively. The price increase for these two products occurred in June, several months after the government had held prices steady amid spikes caused by the United States-Israel war with Iran.

Prices for assigned and subsidised fuels, specifically Pertalite at Rp10,000 per litre and Biosolar, remained unchanged.
