Pertamina Confirms Smooth Production and Distribution of B50 Biodiesel

Pertamina Patra Niages has prepared the necessary tools and facilities to ensure that the production, distribution, and supply processes for Biodiesel 50 (B50) run smoothly.

Kitty Andhora, Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated that the company has arranged the required infrastructure to support the implementation of B50, ensuring efficient production and distribution. Speaking from Jakarta on Tuesday, Kitty noted that preparations are progressing well ahead of the official launch by President Prabowo Subianto.

Currently, 29 out of 126 of Pertamina’s fuel terminals are confirmed ready to distribute B50 in the form of Biosolar. This number is expected to increase gradually throughout the transition period.

According to the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 257.K/EK.01/MEM.E/2026 regarding the obligation to blend biofuels with diesel fuel at a rate of 50 per cent, a transition period has been established for fuel enterprises that still hold stocks of biodiesel for 40 per cent blending (B40).

Enterprises with remaining B40 stocks are permitted to distribute their supply until 30 September 2026, provided they adhere to the established standards and specifications.

“Pertamina Patra Niaga has prepared the B50 distribution infrastructure, ranging from fuel terminals to distribution outlets, such as petrol stations and mobile filling stations,” she added.

The government continues to encourage energy diversification through the use of biofuels. Since 1 July 2026, the government has officially implemented the B50 biodiesel policy, which consists of a 50 per cent blend of diesel with palm oil.

The official launch of the B50 implementation is scheduled to be conducted by President Prabowo Subianto in early July 2026.
