Pertamina Confirms Smooth Production and Distribution of B50 Biodiesel
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has prepared the necessary facilities and infrastructure to support the implementation of B50 biodiesel, ensuring that production and distribution processes run smoothly. Corporate Communication Vice President Kitty Andhora stated that preparations are on track ahead of the launch by President Prabowo Subianto. A total of 29 out of 126 Pertamina fuel terminals are ready to distribute B50 in the form of Biosolar. This number will gradually increase during the transition period. The policy is based on Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 257.K/EK.01/MEM.E/2026, which mandates a 50 percent blend of palm oil-based biofuel with diesel. The regulation also provides a transition period for fuel business entities that still hold B40 biodiesel stocks, allowing them to distribute the older blend until 30 September 2026. Head of the Government Communication Body Muhammad Qodari stated that this development is part of the energy transition roadmap aimed at increasing the renewable energy mix, strengthening the electricity system’s flexibility, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels to support a green economy and achieve net-zero emissions.
