Pertamina Patra Niaga has confirmed the reliability of its facilities and infrastructure to receive Biodiesel 50 (B50) at its fuel terminals and subsequently distribute it to public filling stations (SPBU) and the public. Ahad Rahedi, Area Manager for Communication, Relations and CSR for the East Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara (Jatimbalinus) region, stated in Surabaya on Wednesday that the company is ensuring its terminals and distribution networks are ready. He noted that B50 will eventually replace the existing Biosolar B40 product, but that product handling, distribution patterns and pricing remain entirely under the authority of the central government. From the perspective of distribution infrastructure, he confirmed no changes are required, meaning Pertamina is prepared to carry out the government’s assignment in supporting the use of better, cleaner and more environmentally friendly energy. Ahad said Pertamina is currently still using the price structure based on B40 as it awaits an official mandate from the government. He explained that the difference between B40 and B50 lies in the biofuel content within the diesel, with B40 containing 40 per cent biofuel and B50 containing 50 per cent. Regarding technical vehicle readiness, Ahad said testing the suitability of B50 for vehicles and industrial engines falls under the government’s authority, specifically through agencies under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. He added that from Pertamina’s side, the product has been declared fit for distribution to the public.
