Jakarta — PT Pertamina (Persero) has assured that the national supply of fuel oil (BBM) will not run out within 21 days. The company continues to safeguard fuel supplies through a series of reinforcement measures (build-up).

Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, explained that, in accordance with government regulations, Pertamina has secured national energy reserves above the minimum level, namely around 21-23 days. For some products, the reserves extend to up to 35 days.

However, after 21-23 days, this does not mean the BBM reserves are exhausted, as Pertamina maintains a safe cushion by continuously adding supplies.

‘The government’s reserve threshold is the safety margin that must always be maintained. As long as distribution and supply run normally, stock remains in motion, and Pertamina continues to keep reserves above the minimum level,’ Baron said in a written statement on Friday (6/3/2026).

‘This is a risk mitigation measure and a commitment by Pertamina to maintain energy resilience,’ he added.

Pertamina Digital Hub is also one of the company’s strategies to keep energy stock levels consistently available.

At the upstream sector, operations are ensured to run according to standards, so the operational targets of each entity can be maintained.

Meanwhile in the downstream sector, Pertamina is able to monitor the movement of tankers carrying products or crude oil, or projections of product or crude oil arrivals, which are then processed at the company’s six refineries.

‘Continual optimisation of domestic refinery operations is undertaken to support national energy resilience,’ he said.

Pertamina can monitor tanker drivers in the distribution process to fuel stations (SPBU), and monitor stock levels at each SPBU.

‘Through a single integrated dashboard, Pertamina can identify BBM and LPG consumption movements in each region, enabling proactive steps to be taken earlier if demand increases, if weather conditions become extreme, or if global dynamics potentially influence energy supply chains,’ Baron concluded.
