Pertamina Completes Streamlining of 31 Entities to Strengthen Governance
PT Pertamina (Persero) is fully supporting the State-Owned Enterprise Subsidiary Restructuring Programme (business streamlining) as part of the company’s ongoing transformation. Under the leadership of President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri, Pertamina has continued its business streamlining efforts and successfully completed the restructuring of 31 entities by the end of the first half of 2026. “This streamlining is part of Pertamina’s sustainable transformation, which is also in line with the aspirations of the Government and Danantara. The ultimate goal is to strengthen national energy security, provide better service to the public, and deliver greater added value for the national economy,” said Pertamina’s Director of Business Transformation and Sustainability, Agung Wicaksono, in an official statement on Friday (3/7/2026). According to Agung, the streamlining programme is one of Pertamina’s strategic priorities. The programme is designed to sharpen the focus on the core business, build excellence and competitiveness, thereby creating sustainable added value. Through mergers, divestment of non-core businesses, and the liquidation of dormant entities, particularly in the upstream oil and gas sector, Pertamina is also restructuring and simplifying the group structure, thereby increasing decision-making speed, efficiency, and governance quality. “Although these dormant upstream entities have had no expenditure, either for operations or for directors’ or commissioners’ salaries, we are still liquidating them as part of the effort to tidy up the Pertamina Group structure,” Agung said. Agung added that the achievements of the streamlining programme carried out in the first half of 2026 as a corporate action have proven capable of strengthening the national energy supply chain, increasing efficiency, and enhancing business resilience in accordance with the President’s directive in Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2026 concerning the acceleration of the restructuring programme for SOEs and/or SOE subsidiaries. “The Streamlining Programme does not stop at corporate actions but also includes transformation to improve excellence, strengthen governance quality, and enhance the quality of our service to the public,” he explained. Meanwhile, Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, stated that in managing this streamlining programme, Pertamina ensures that every process and decision taken adheres to the principles of Good Corporate Governance, comprehensive risk management, and compliance with applicable rules and laws. The support and oversight from cross-sectoral agencies, including law enforcement officials and auditors, further strengthens Pertamina’s commitment to restructuring its subsidiaries. In addition to coordinating with law enforcement officials, auditors, Danantara, and the SOE Supervisory Board as shareholders, Pertamina also collaborates with various agencies, institutions, and internal stakeholders such as labour unions. “We extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation for the support and input provided to ensure this streamlining programme is not only carried out correctly but also achieves the targeted value creation,” Baron concluded.
