Jakarta (ANTARA) - Pertamina Commissioner Nanik S. Deyang and former Head of the Presidential Office Hasan Nasbi have assured the availability and distribution of energy, particularly fuel oil (BBM) and LPG, in Sorong City, Southwest Papua, is proceeding well.

“The public is very calm, with no unrest. This single-price fuel programme is extraordinary, especially in eastern regions like Papua,” Nanik stated in a comment received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Nanik, the stability of fuel prices in Papua has a positive impact on the social and economic conditions of the community. He also appreciated the efforts of the government and Pertamina in keeping prices stable.

“The single-price fuel alone is hard work; while fuel prices rise in other countries, Indonesia remains resilient. Pertamina is truly fulfilling its role as an agent of development. I am pleased that Pertamina provides peace of mind and security for the public,” Nanik said.

He also revealed that the fuel stock resilience in Sorong is even higher than in Java regions.

With secure supply conditions and controlled distribution, Pertamina is optimistic that the energy needs of the people in Southwest Papua can continue to be met well.

“In Java, stocks are around 10 days, while in Sorong it can reach 20 days. This provides security for the public; hopefully not just in Sorong, but across all of Papua the stocks are safe,” he said.

The inspection was conducted at the COCO 81 984 01 fuel station and the non-subsidised LPG agent PT Wilis Trijaya Mandiri on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.

Hasan Nasbi stated that overall, services at the COCO 81 984 01 fuel station on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Sorong City, are running well, although there are still several areas for improvement.

“Overall, it is running well, with no queues and subsidised fuel distribution on target. However, there are several things that Patra Niaga needs to improve, such as toilet barriers, underground tank repairs, and several other SOPs,” he said.

The group then visited the non-subsidised LPG agent PT Wilis Trijaya Mandiri. From the monitoring results, the LPG supply at the agent was deemed secure without any shortages. He assured that overall, the availability of BBM and LPG in Southwest Papua remains maintained.

“There is no shortage at this agent; supplies are available for up to 15 days ahead, and before they run out, new supplies arrive. Insyaallah, energy supplies in this region can continue to be fulfilled and maintained by Pertamina Patra Niaga,” Hasan said.
