Pertamina Claims LPG Supply Remains Secure Following Bekasi SPBE Fire
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Barat (JBB) has provided an explanation regarding the fire incident at the Stasiun Pengisian Bulk Elpiji (SPBE) of PT Indogas Andalan Kita, which occurred on Jalan Cinyosog, Cimuning Ward, Mustikajaya District, Bekasi City, on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.
Area Manager for Communications, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Barat, Susanto August Satria, expressed apologies for the incident. Amid the event, Susanto assured that LPG or elpiji distribution to the public continues normally.
The company has prepared the Regular Alternative Emergency (RAE) scheme, supported by supplies from the nearest SPBEs, namely those of PT Kenrope Sarana Pratama, PT Pacific Sumber Segara, and PT Dharma Wira Sentosa,” he stated, as quoted from a written press release on Thursday, 2 April 2026.
Currently, he said, the primary focus is on post-incident handling, including ensuring the safety of nearby residents, addressing affected victims, and workers at the SPBE site.
Previously, police recorded a total of 12 victims in the incident. Bekasi City Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, stated that the victims suffered quite serious burns.
“For now, our data shows 12 people, spread across several hospitals. On average, they have burns covering about 60 to 70 percent,” he said at the scene on 2 April 2026, in the early hours.
The victims consist of local residents and workers at the incident site. All victims have received medical treatment at various hospitals. Police are also still investigating the cause of the fire and assessing losses, including damage to residents’ homes and shops.
The Bekasi City Fire Department stated that the extinguishing process lasted around five hours since the report was received at 20:00 WIB. The fire was brought under control around 01:00 WIB, followed by a cooling process.
The local government, along with authorities, has also set up an emergency post to support further handling for affected residents.
