Pertamina Claims Fuel Stocks Remain Secure in East Lombok Despite Temporary Shortages at Petrol Stations
Pertamina Patra Niaga has assured the availability of petroleum fuel (BBM) in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is secure. Both subsidised and non-subsidised BBM are said to remain available and sufficient to meet public needs.
Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR in Jatimbalinus, Ahad Rahedi, stated that the availability of subsidised BBM aligns with the quota and sales service points in East Lombok, as determined by the government together with the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH) Migas.
“The complaints about queues for BBM in East Lombok are due to shortages with a status of being in delivery. We always monitor product stocks digitally at each petrol station,” Ahad explained in his statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
He emphasised that the distribution of BBM, both subsidised and non-subsidised, proceeds according to regulations and in coordination with local government. Pertamina also ensures that non-subsidised supplies remain secure.
“Stocks of BBM, both subsidised and non-subsidised, at petrol stations in the East Lombok area are present and remain available,” he said.
Pertamina, he continued, distributes subsidised BBM according to the assignment quota from the government. Additionally, several mitigation measures are implemented, such as tightening refuelling for vehicles and limiting sales to non-vehicle consumers to prevent hoarding practices.
“We ensure that BBM stocks, both subsidised and non-subsidised, in East Lombok are sufficient to meet the needs of the local community,” he stated.
Pertamina, Ahad added, has mitigated distribution by prioritising refuelling for vehicle consumers and minimising refuelling for non-vehicle consumers as a measure against collectors.
Furthermore, priority deliveries of BBM are carried out to petrol stations reported to have stock issues. Coordination with relevant stakeholders is also conducted to ensure safe and controlled distribution.
“With all these mitigations, it is hoped that the distribution process can be accelerated further and conditions will improve towards normal distribution,” Ahad concluded.
It was previously reported that petroleum fuel (BBM) supplies in East Lombok were starting to become scarce. This situation forced drivers to queue for hours, even spilling onto main roads.
Observations by detikBali on Monday afternoon (4/5/2026) showed several petrol stations in East Lombok appearing deserted without activity. Meanwhile, at the Lenek petrol station, there were long queues dominated by two-wheeled vehicles. Four-wheeled vehicles were also seen snaking onto the road.
Sophia (27) said she had been queuing for an hour but had not yet had her turn to refuel due to the long queue.
“Almost an hour queuing, but what can we do, we need BBM so we’re forced to wait,” she told detikBali on Monday night (4/5).
She added that buying BBM from retailers was also difficult. Moreover, the prices offered were higher than at petrol stations.
“If from retailers, sometimes we buy for Rp 12,000, some sell for 13,000, even more than that. It’s also quite rare to find sellers at retailers. That’s why it’s better to refuel directly at the petrol station, even if the queue is long,” she added.
Similar complaints were voiced by Samsul Fadli, a public transport driver who was also queuing. He said he had circled several petrol stations before finally finding a location that still had BBM stock.
