Pertamina Chief Commissioner Inspects Energy Facilities in East Java
Pertamina Chief Commissioner Mochamad Iriawan inspected key operational facilities of Pertamina Patra Niaga, namely the Juanda Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) and the Surabaya Integrated Terminal, in East Java on Monday. The visit aimed to ensure that strategic energy infrastructure is operating reliably to maintain smooth energy services for the public, particularly amid increased mobility during the school holiday season. According to Iriawan, the reliability of energy supply is a crucial foundation for economic activity, transportation, defence, and public services. He stated that oversight of strategic energy facilities must be carried out consistently to ensure operations run safely, reliably, and in accordance with corporate governance standards. “I want to ensure the readiness of all operational lines that are the lifeblood of the economy and government in the Eastern Indonesia region, ready to carry out their functions optimally,” Iriawan said in an official statement on Tuesday. At AFT Juanda, the Chief Commissioner verified the readiness of avtur supply, facility reliability, and service quality for airlines so that public flight needs during the holiday period can be met without hindrance. He also urged the acceleration of infrastructure and human resource readiness in anticipation of implementing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as part of efforts to support energy independence and Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission target. “The task of maintaining avtur supply demands zero tolerance for stock shortages or service interruptions. Juanda must be one of the front lines in supporting the national energy transformation,” he stressed. Dimas Bagus Satriyo Wibowo of Aviation Fuel Terminal Juanda explained that the facility is a strategic asset supporting the national aviation sector in the East Java region. The terminal has a capacity of 20,000 kilolitres, supported by 8 storage tanks, 7 hydrant dispensers, nine refueller trucks, and 49 operators. AFT Juanda also serves as a supply point for five other AFTs serving airports in East Java, namely AFT Iswahjudi (Madiun), Abdulrachman Saleh (Malang), Dhoho (Kediri), Notohadinegoro (Jember), and Blimbingsari (Banyuwangi). On the same occasion, Iriawan also visited the Surabaya Integrated Terminal, one of the largest integrated terminals in Indonesia. He paid close attention to the readiness of infrastructure and the distribution network for B50 biodiesel fuel, which is set to be launched in early July 2026. Iriawan also emphasised that the maintenance of strategic assets such as storage tanks, jetties, and pipeline networks must be kept in prime condition to ensure smooth energy distribution under all conditions. At the end of the visit, the Chief Commissioner reiterated that all operational targets and business transformation must be carried out by prioritising Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) aspects. He stressed that the Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR) culture must become part of every Pertamina employee’s work behaviour to protect workers, the public, and state assets.
