PT Pertamina (Persero) moved quickly to assist victims of the earthquake disaster in the Flores region of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Amid the grief, Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri visited the affected area directly to distribute aid. He also led the 81st Independence Day commemoration ceremony at the Reo Fuel Terminal in NTT, one of the areas affected by the earthquake and a Pertamina operational site.

“On behalf of the Pertamina family, I express my deepest condolences for the loss of life and my concern for all affected communities. In line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, Pertamina is present directly to support the acceleration of disaster response, with the safety and fulfilment of residents’ basic needs as the top priority. The people of NTT are not alone,” said Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri on Monday, 17 August 2026.

Responding to the magnitude 7.7 earthquake, Pertamina Group moved on two main priorities: maintaining energy availability while helping to meet the urgent needs of affected communities. For energy supply availability, Pertamina is actively coordinating with a number of parties.

Pertamina Vice President of Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron said the company continues to deploy resources and coordinate with various parties to ensure energy distribution and humanitarian aid continue to operate. Restoration of energy facilities and services is being carried out in stages with safety as the priority, while aid to communities is directed based on needs in the field to provide optimal benefits for earthquake-affected residents.

“To date, most fuel stations in Flores have resumed operations and other services are being restored gradually with safety as the priority. Through Pertamina Peduli, assistance for basic needs, health, hygiene, sanitation and emergency energy has been distributed and will continue to be adjusted to actual needs in the field,” said Baron.

As of the second day after the earthquake, aid distributed by Pertamina includes tents, medicines and basic food packages. Pertamina is also ensuring that community energy needs, particularly LPG for households and fuel oil, remain available.
